We all know that eating nutritious food is important for good health, but it can be very hard to accomplish with a busy schedule. We have come up with five fast, healthy snacks that are great for individuals on the go.
Fruit Smoothies
Fruit smoothies are a great way to start the day. All they require is some fruit, plain yogurt or milk, ice, a blender and a glass. Some of our favorite fruit smoothies include banana strawberry and mango pineapple. The smoothie can be poured in a travel mug and consumed on the way to work or the gym. If you need to add protein or fiber to your smoothie, just add some whey or protein powder and wheat germ.
Cottage Cheese and Fruit
A half cup of cottage cheese and a few blueberries, raspberries or strawberries makes a great nutritious, fiber and protein packed snack. Grocery stores sell pre-made cottage cheese and fruit that is ready to eat. Additionally, you can pre-make your cottage cheese and fruit snacks and place them in small plastic containers.
Turkey Rollups
Turkey roll ups are low carb and high in protein and calcium. To make these tasty treats, simply lay some deli turkey on a plate, add a slice of organic cheese, roll it up and secure it with a toothpick. Make them part of your proper diet by putting them in a plastic storage bag and taking them to work for your lunch.
Hummus and Fresh Vegetables
Hummus is packed with nutrients, including lots of fiber, protein, magnesium and potassium, and it makes a great dip for celery and carrot sticks. It can be eaten as a snack before the gym, lunch and before bed.
Yogurt Fruit Pops
Yogurt fruit pops make a great snack on hot summer days. Simply blend your favorite fruits with some non-fat vanilla or plain yogurt and pour them into popsicle molds or ice cube trays and insert a popsicle stick into each mold. They are ready to eat once they are frozen.
