An essential oil is the distilled, concentrated volatile oil of a plant. Think of them as the “essence” of a plant or flower, the whole plant’s vitality condensed into a few drops of oil. Only pure oils can be called essential oils and they may be used for many purposes such as to enhance the scent of high-end perfumes, soaps and other bath and beauty items or improve the power of natural cleaning products. But only therapy grade essential oils are recommended for use in complementary and alternative medicine. Though the idea of using plant volatile oils as medicine may seem new, the practice of aromatherapy is thought to be thousands of years old.
At Apex Wellness Center we rely solely on Young Living essential oils to use with our clients. In order to preserve the potency and integrity of the plants they work with, Young Living developed a proprietary “Seed to Seal” production method which allows them to offer the most authentic essential oils on the market. Our practitioners work closely with the guidelines and suggestions from Young Living to ensure we are providing the most productive aromatherapy experience possible.
The practice of aromatherapy is based on the idea that inhaling or ingesting certain essential oils can have a profound effect on the psychological, physiological and spiritual aspects of your wellbeing. Essential oils stimulate the olfactory system which is connected to the limbic or emotional region of the brain. The limbic system helps to regulate heart rate, breathing, stress levels and hormone. Through the olfactory system, the limbic system can be manipulated to speed up, slow down or produce more or fewer hormones depending on which essential oils are used.
Because they are non-invasive, affordable and simple to apply, essential oils are safe for almost everyone to use; however, some essential oils may cause unwanted interactions with certain prescription medications and should be used under the guidance of one of our practitioners. Some of the conditions we treat with Young Living essential oils include:
At Apex Wellness Center we may suggest incorporating essential oils with massage therapy, using them at home with a diffuser or applying them directly to the skin. In order to provide our clients with all the benefits of essential oils, multivitamins, ingestible compounds and food and drink products from Young Living are also available.
When used correctly, essential oils can be strong medicinal ally. A consultation with one of our experts can help you get the most out of essential oils and is highly recommended to ensure their safe use.
